Large Towed Recreational Vehicle Toll Rebate

What is the Large Towed Recreational Vehicle Toll Rebate scheme?

The NSW Government offers a Large Towed Recreational Vehicle Toll Rebate (LTRVTR) scheme for privately registered large recreational vehicles towing a caravan, boat trailer or horse float in Sydney.

Drivers towing caravans, boats, and horse floats with a total combined length (car and towed vehicle) greater than 12.5 metres, or more than 2.8m high, are eligible for cheaper tolls on Sydney's motorways.

The scheme applies to all Sydney's toll roads except for the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, which has a single toll price for all vehicles.

The scheme also applies to the NorthConnex and the WestConnex M5 East/M8.

The rebate is capped at eight tolled trips per monthly billing period.

When did the scheme come into effect?

Trips made from 1 June 2020 are eligible for the rebate. Eligible customers can now register for the scheme via their toll tag provider.

How much is the rebate?

The rebate is the difference between the Class B and the Class A toll and is available for private vehicles only. It makes the cost of travelling on a toll road with these types of vehicles the same as travelling in a regular car.

The rebate is capped at eight (8) toll trips per monthly billing period.

Who is eligible to claim the rebate?

To be eligible for the rebate, you must:

  • Be registered for the rebate
  • Be a NSW resident
  • Have both the car and towed recreational vehicle registered in NSW for private, pensioner or charitable use
  • Have travelled on a NSW toll road with a car, caravan, boat, or horse float combination detected as a Class B vehicle and had a Class B toll charged to your toll account
  • Have paid Class B tolls with your NSW issued tag/tagless product
  • Have paid the toll in full
  • Claim your rebate within 12 months after you receive your toll statement.

Note: The Rebate Scheme is not available for motorhomes registered as Class B or Casual Pass toll road trips.

Can I claim both M5 South-West Cashback and the Light Towed Recreational Vehicle Toll Rebate (LTRVTR)?

Yes. If you have signed up for both the M5 South-West Cashback scheme and the LTRVTR rebate scheme, you can claim for trips via M5 South-West through the M5 South-West Cashback scheme and the LTRVTR rebate for all other trips (except for the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Tunnel) via the LTRVTR scheme.
