ERider

How do I open/renew an ERider account?

You can apply for an ERider account if you have a motorcycle and frequently travel on the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Harbour Tunnel.

You must provide a licence plate number (LPN) at the time of opening an account, and an LPN must be associated with your ERider account at all times.

You must open your account using a credit or debit card. You may use direct debit for your ongoing payments; these will be processed automatically.

The ERider quarterly fees are collected every three months, and will continue to renew every three months until you ask us to close your account.

You can set up an ERider online or by calling 13 18 65 or visiting a Service NSW Centre.

How is my quarterly fee calculated?

The ERider quarterly fees are collected every three months.

If your ERider account is suspended, the quarterly fee will be re-aligned to the three monthly cycle commencing from the date your account was re-activated.

Removing your licence plate number (LPN) will not prevent the quarterly fee from bring charged. To continue with access to unlimited trips on the Sydney Harbour Bridge and in the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, you must have an LPN associated with your ERider Account. If an LPN is not provided, you will continue to be charged the quarterly fee and may receive toll notices.

Can I choose to renew ERider manually?

No. We don't offer a manual payment option. The ERider quarterly $90 flat fee will automatically renew via your chosen payment method at the beginning of each quarter (aligned to your account opening date). The top-up payment that allows you to travel on all toll roads is debited from your payment method when the account reaches the minimum balance set for your account.

Can I cancel my ERider at any time?

Yes, E-Toll will refund the amount equal to the number of days left in your current billing quarter. Any tolling balance on your account will also be refunded. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions for further details. Call 13 18 65 to cancel your account.

Will my new ERider be linked to my existing E-Toll account?

No. ERider is only applicable for one motorcycle licence plate, and it cannot be combined with an existing E-Toll account.

Do I have to carry a physical Tag on my motorcycle?

No. Motorcyclists do not need to carry a physical tag. Your licence plate is photographed at toll collection points and matched to your ERider account. Video matching fees do not apply to motorcycles.

To continue with access to unlimited trips on the Sydney Harbour Bridge and in the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, you must have a licence plate number (LPN) associated with your ERider Account. If an LPN is not provided, you will continue to be charged the quarterly fee and may receive toll notices.

How many motorcycle licence plates can be included on one ERider account?

You can only have one motorcycle licence plate attached to an ERider account. If you wish to use two motorcycles, you must set up two separate ERider accounts.

An LPN must be associated with your ERider account at all times. If an LPN is not provided, you will continue to be charged the quarterly fee and may receive toll notices.

Can I set up an ERider for a three-wheeled motorcycle trike or scooter?

Yes. The only requirement is that the licence plate is registered as a motorcycle.

Can I update the licence plate on my ERider if my motorcycle is lost, stolen or sold or if I buy a personalised number plate?

Yes. Please log in to your account to update your licence plate or call 13 18 65 to report your motorcycle as stolen. You may be required to provide documentation as evidence of the change.

What do I do if I receive a toll notice?

If you receive a toll notice, you are required by law to respond to it. A toll notice will be issued if your licence plate was not successfully matched to your account or if your account failed to top up and your account is in a negative balance at the time of travel.

Can I travel on other toll roads with my ERider account?

Yes. ERider accounts are eligible for travel on all Australian toll roads.

The ERider account is designed to provide reduced toll costs for travel on the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Harbour Tunnel only, and a quarterly fee covers the cost of these tolls.

You are required to have a minimum opening balance of $25 on your ERider account to pay for tolls on other toll roads. These tolls are automatically debited from your ERider account. When your account reaches its minimum balance, it will be automatically topped up via your chosen payment method.

Can I set up an eMU Pass for my motorcycle?

Yes. You can purchase an eMU Pass for your motorcycle, and you can only have one motorcycle licence plate attached to an eMU Pass. Once your eMU Pass expires, you can purchase an additional eMU Pass if required.

You can also set up an E-Toll Tag or Tagless for ongoing use on all Australian toll roads.

You can link multiple vehicles to an E-Toll Tag or Tagless account.

I’ve received an email or SMS message, claiming to be from E-Toll. Is this a scam?

Customers should be aware of scam emails and SMS messages claiming to be from E-Toll.

Please be vigilant and ensure you DO NOT open files or click on links in unexpected emails or SMSs.

E-Toll only sends SMSs to customers who have opted in to SMS, and our SMSs do not contain bit.ly links.

If you need to access your account for any reason, be sure to only ever log in on the E-Toll website and not via any other links or websites.

My statement has a charge listed as ‘ETOLLPayment’. What is this?

This is usually an auto refill or a top up. If you this charge isn’t correct, please call us on 13 18 65 to discuss your E-Toll account.

I don’t recall authorising this charge?

Our system usually automatically tops up your account in real time for tolls travelled. If you believe this isn’t the case or would like to review your account, please call us on 13 18 65.

But I’ve sold this vehicle. Why am I still being charged for trips?

You may still be charged for trips if you haven’t yet removed the license plate from your E-Toll account. This will result in the new owner’s trips being charged to your account. You will remain liable for any toll charges up until you request to remove your vehicle from your account.

You can remove a vehicle from your account by logging into your account at myetoll.transport.nsw.gov.au/login . If you wish to dispute the charges of the vehicle you have sold, you will need to provide supporting documentations of the sale or the notice of disposal to E-Toll.

How do I query a charge on my account?

If you believe you have been incorrectly charged, please call us before raising a chargeback with your bank. You can contact us on 13 18 65 and we will check your account.

I’ve requested a chargeback with my bank for an E-Toll charge. How long does the chargeback process take?

The chargeback process varies depending on your bank. For more information about the chargeback process, please contact your bank directly.

I’ve lodged a chargeback but have now received an email from the E-Toll customer service team explaining the charges, and it makes sense. What should I do now?

You will need to contact your bank to withdraw the chargeback dispute immediately otherwise your account will be debited the disputed amount.
